Manjanggul Cave will be temporarily closed from January 27, 2023 due to inspections caused by falling rocks. The reopening schedule is still undecided, so I will let you know as soon as it is decided. We ask for your understanding.
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, unlike other oreum in Jeju Island, is an aqueous volcano created by magma erupting in the water. As the hot magma erupted during volcanic activity met the cold seawater, the volcanic ash contained a lot of moisture and became sticky, and it was Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak that accumulated as it formed a layer.

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak was managed as a local monument and designated as a natural monument on July 19, 2000, and was listed on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list on July 2, 2007 in recognition of its outstanding scenery and geological value. In addition, it was certified by UNESCO World Geopark in October 2010, and was selected as the best natural eco-tourism attraction in Korea in 2011 and the 12 Guinness World Tourism in December 2012.
